For the 9 years that I've been back in Beautiful Baldwin, I have stopped at BeeGee's for gas.  It's located about half way between Stapleton and BayMinette on 31/59 and branded Solo Gas. 

The other day, Pidder got a call from her daugher who lives in Pine Grove with a simi emergency.  Her daughter had no transportation and the baby had a very painful bottom (the baby has extremely sensative skin and certain foods make her go suddenly red and painful).  We had her cream here in Stapleton.  Pidder, not wanting to bother me at work, took her car (which I told her not to drive until I could look at it) and left the house with $2.00 in her purse and no check book, credit card, nothing.

The road to Pine Grove turns off at BeeGee's so she stopped there for gas, put $2.00 in it and the car refused to start.  She ran the battery down trying.  She went to the phone booth and tried to make a collect call but the phone was out of order.  She asked the lady in the store if she could use the house phone and was refused.  Pidder is not the type to explode.  For more than an hour, her car sat at the gas pump and none of the two dozen or so customers admitted to having a set of jumper cables.  Finally, a young black man in a beat up pickup truck jumped her off.

My only regret is that I've done so much business with that place before I found out how cold they are.  Not only will they never get another dime from me, but I will let anyone who will listen know what a bunch of %^*#@* they are.  If I could afford to, I'd open a station next door to them and give away gas, cigarettes, candy, beer and cokes until they closed down.

I also fussed at Pidder.  She drove past my office on her way and could have stopped and taken my truck.  But then I wouldn't have found out about BEEGEE's bad customer service attitude.  Right?
